Feedback from schools taking part

The Project

This range of software has been specifically designed for interactive whiteboards and provides highly motivating mathematical challenges. There are three challenges covering 4-7, 6-9, 8-11 years. The games have multi-player options and allow different levels of difficulty for each player. Each game can be played individually or alternatively alongside or against classmates.

Schools with an expertise in using ICT to support maths teaching in Foundation, KS1 and KS2 and or expertise in the use of the Interactive whiteboard were invited to take part in this activity.

This Project ran throughout the Autumn Term and Spring Term 2007/2008

Schools used the software in at least one class during the term, to provide feedback and write up their experiences as a scenario. These exemplify the use of the programs embedded in the range of tools used to enhance and support children’s learning. The scenarios are available above and through the Software for Whiteboards website. Schools were offered free of charge at least one title in the Maths trilogy and all titles should it be appropriate. Up to 5 copies will also be made available to Secondary Schools if they are able to outline how it might be used appropriately to support learning or transition.

Schools commitment:

Produce a scenario of good practice and/or feedback on the product. Place a service or edit an existing service on the ICT Register to include a mention of the software.

Include the activity in the updates provided by schools at their regional meetings.

Participating ICT Register schools identified:

  • a ‘group/class’ to participate in the activity. The group used the software to meet the objectives of the project;
  • a single contact point to be responsible for ensuring the progress of the development activities and the production of the scenario;
  • the titles required for the Activity.
