Developing good ICT Practice using Textease Studio CT.

After contacting all the schools on the ICT Register 35 schools have agreed to take part in this project. The ICT Register and Softease team were originally looking for 15 schools. They were so pleased with the response from schools that they extended the project so as not to disappoint too many schools. Each school will focus on using a specific tool from Textease Studio CT; (a set of 9 integrated tools) to show excellent use of ICT within the curriculum (part 1) and then to share their good practice using the exciting new medium of ‘Podcasting’ (part 2).

Stage 1:

Schools will use Textease Studio CT to produce their own templates and activities based around certain areas of the curriculum using one or more of the 9 integrated tools. These are Graphical Modelling, Data-Handling - Databases, Spreadsheets, Animation and Movie making, Combining text and Graphics, Branching Databases, Multimedia Presentation, Modelling Effects on Screen, Creating Pictures, and a Numeracy and Literacy example. Activities and tools are to be negotiated with Softease to ensure an even spread of activities and tools.

Stage 2:

Once activities have been produced, participating schools will record a ‘step-through / walk-through’ of their activity. They will describe the activity, how it affected the class, their teaching of the unit or curriculum objective and any tips and after-thoughts. They will also record a viewpoint from the students’ point of view. Their recordings will then be made into ‘Podcasts’ that can hosted on the Softease website – with links to and from the schools’ website and the ICT Register in order that other schools can share their examples and experiences from this initiative.
