Project Academic Year 2009/2010
The aim of this project is to work with a small group of schools to demonstrate the potential of the rpassport tool which forms part of the Smartassess Realsmart Suite and to highlight its contribution to the parental engagement agenda. This tool allows pupils to celebrate their milestones along their learning journey.
Project Guidelines We are looking for 2 schools particularly primary schools in the Yorkshire and Humberside, East Midlands and North West regions as smartassess are based in Sheffield. Schools taking part in this project will have access to the rpassport software free of charge with support throughout the academic year 2009/2010. One class or year group per school would allow us to focus this pilot. Schools wishing to continue to use rpassport will be allowed to do so for this cohort if they are willing to share their continued positive use with other organisations. Schools taking part in this project will be required to provide feedback both positive/negative on using the rpassport software to smartassess to assist in the development of the software. Schools also need to be willing to record their experiences as a scenario, discussing the use of the software as an engagement tool for both pupils and parents. Scenarios will be displayed jointly by smartassess and the ICT Register.
Timescale Academic Year 2009/2010, schools on the ICT Register will be invited to take part in this activity.
Smartassess will offer 2 schools access to the rpassport free of charge for the academic year. In the event that the school is unable to complete a scenario then the school should inform ICT Register Administrator as soon as possible.
Produce a scenario of good practice and feedback on the product. Place a service or edit an existing service on the ICT Register to include a mention of the software. Include the activity in the updates provided by schools at their regional meetings. Participating ICT Register schools will need to identify • a ‘group/class’ to participate in the activity. The group will use rpassport to meet the objectives of the project. • a single contact point to be responsible for ensuring the progress of the development activities and the production of the scenario.
To administer, promote and support the project with schools.
Schools identified and recruited Summer term. Training and support as soon as the schools have been identified The project will aim to begin by the beginning of the Autumn Term. Feedback by beginning Spring and Summer Terms. Scenarios by end of the Summer Term During Summer Term schools should adjust their services to include their use of the hardware. During August Scenarios will be uploaded onto the ICT Register Website.
