Project Objectives

For ICT Register: to provide teachers and students with a set of content and tools for the creation of resources for cross-curricular and theme-based work. To promote appropriate usage of LP's by encouraging content creation and self-population of LP's with relevant content.

For Magic Studio Network: to add more teacher-created content to the network. To gain greater feedback and exposure for the network and to bring the content and tools to a wider audience.

Project Timeframe

The project is planned to run for 6 months, from October 2008 through to March 2009. The results of the project will be presented at the SSAT conference on the 16th March 2010

Description of Project

The project will be targeted at approximately 20 schools 10 in each of 2 different regions.

It will cut across different learning platforms, but will include as a minimum schools that are using Moodle and Sharepoint-based LP's.

All schools involved in the project will be provided with full access to Magic Studio Pro for teachers and students for the duration of the project. Magic Studio will be provided fully integrated with their LP where this facility exists within the LP.

A list of 'themes' will be agreed prior to gaining school involvement – the objective will be to encourage the schools involved to create and re-use resources across the project by sharing and working collaboratively to support each other's involvement.

Definition of Roles

The ICT Register team will provide:

- support to identify and recruit schools in agreed regions - input to the definition of the themes to be covered - support throughout the project to help manage input from schools - opportunities to disseminate information about the project and present the results

The Magic Studio Team will provide:

- access, management and support for users of the Magic Studio Network - 2 training sessions per region for schools - support to source additional copyright-cleared content to support resource creation - dissemination activity support to the ICT Register team

Schools Commitment

Schools involved will be expected to create resources and re-use resources across the project by sharing and working collaboratively to support each other's involvement. Schools will work with the ICT Register Team and Magic Studio team to identify themes for development prior to the start of the project. Participating schools will be expected to attend one of the two training courses in their region.

Terms and Conditions of Involvement

All content produced by the schools during the project will be theirs to keep, at no cost, at the project close.

All content produced will also be made available to other schools throughout the Magic Studio Network free of charge.

There will be no obligation to purchase Magic Studio by schools at the end of the project – they will, however, be offered an opportunity to purchase at a specially discounted rate.
