EPRA toolkit

The EPRA toolkit consists of three sections providing a “one stop shop” for schools keen to develop this agenda.

  • It provides evidence to support schools working with staff in developing this agenda (this July 2007 evidence demonstrates that effective parental engagement raises achievement, and improves behaviour and attendance)
  • It provides a self evaluation framework to assess your current practice and provides you with a range of ideas to set your longer term strategic vision. For this section, it also provides a guide to the types of evidence you can use to validate your self evaluation (this is also useful for your SEF)
  • Through the toolkit you can access tried and tested strategies from schools in wide ranging circumstances and how schools have found solutions to the challenges in overcoming barriers to parental engagement

Each section shows the process of moving from giving parents information, to involving parents in the life of the school – to the target of effectively engaging parents to impact on learning and ultimately learning in the home. The stages from beginning to developed show how this is achievable and the potential impact on learning this can have. Every school is keen to develop this agenda – this toolkit allows you to celebrate your successes and guides you to those next stages.
