Developing exemplars of good practice using BuzzWebz

by Indigo Learning Ltd

Feedback from schools taking part:

What is BuzzWebz?

BuzzWebz allows you to create websites collaboratively with the whole class promoting the values of teamwork by sharing ideas. Parents can get in on the action by viewing the exported sites from home. The whole class can create the website - it belongs to the group and everyone is involved. Collaboration at its best.

Other schools had previously used Buzz to create websites about Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, a field trip to the farm and an "alternative" school website from the children's point of view (to share with their partner school in Africa. It was left to the participating schools to decide how to use the software in their schools.

The Project ran during the Spring and Summer Terms 2008

As part of the project, schools were offered a five user licence free of charge.

The Schools' commitment

Participating schools were asked to use the software in at least one class or ICT Club during the term, after which they should:

1. Produce a scenario of good practice and publish it on the ICT Register Trials Wiki.

2. Take part in online discussions if appropriate via the ICT Register Trials Wiki.

3. Place a service or edit an existing service on the ICT Register to include a mention of the software.

4. Enter a website in the competition.

5. Include the activity in the updates provided by schools at their regional meetings.

At the end of the project

A competition was run between the schools and the winning website from Horndean Infant School was awarded a free site licence for the BuzzWebz software and Indigo Illustrations. The websites were judged by a panel with representatives from Indigo Learning, ICT Register Team and ICT Register Focus Schools. All participating schools were given the opportunity to purchase a full site licence for BuzzWebz at a 50% discount, £250.
